Head-up-display

Being able to check important information while also keeping an eye on the road: this is a major advantage of the optional head-up display. Part of the windscreen becomes a projection surface that can display your speed, messages from your driver assist systems or navigation instructions. The projection itself is still clearly legible, even when light is shining directly onto the windscreen or the road is covered with snow. And you can switch off the display fully or partially at any time if you no longer need it
Towing bracket & trailer weight & Trailer Assist

The Tiguan can tow up to 1900Kg, for example a camping or horse trailer. The optional towing bracket is concealed under the rear and semi-automatically folds down when required at the press of a button. Since it’s not exactly easy to maneuver with a trailer, the optional Trailer Assist maneuvering system can help. Incidentally, the towing bracket offers a general drawbar load of 100 kg and a drawbar load for wheel carriers of 75 kg, which is sure to please not only e-bike enthusiasts.

The voice assistant can be started with “Hello IDA”. It also understands free formulations from everyday life such as “I’m cold.” or “Where are there restaurants in my city?”. In addition, thanks to digital microphones, it now also recognises whether the driver or the passenger is speaking, in order, for example, to provide the air conditioning in the vehicle specifically to the person making the request.

The optional comfort mobile phone interface gives you everything you need for this: the hands-free system has microphones in the roof console, while the internal speakers ensure high sound quality of the voice output. The front storage compartment also has an inductive charging function for wirelessly charging up to two Qi standard-compliant mobile phones simultaneously with a charging capacity of 15 W. The connection to the external aerial is also ensured wirelessly to optimise the reception quality.

Thanks to the new atmospheres, a touch of a button is all it takes to adapt even multiple settings at the same time – from the right background lighting to music playback to air conditioning.

Travel Assist
Keeps you in lane. And keeps others at a distance.
The optional Travel Assist function provides you with extremely useful driving assistance on board. It can keep you in your lane, maintain a minimum distance to the vehicle in front and the maximum speed you have set.
One of the features it uses to do this is adaptive lane guidance. This actively keeps the vehicle in the middle of the lane. Travel Assist adapts to your driving style and can also drive further to the left or right in its own lane instead of exactly in the middle.
In addition, Travel Assist offers adaptive cruise control and cornering assistance. The vehicle speed can therefore be adapted to the applicable speed limits and road layouts (bends, roundabouts etc).
Area View
For a complete overview
Manoeuvring in the busy city centre, in a multi-storey car park or in rough terrain: there are many situations in which drivers could use a few extra eyes. With the optional Area View you get them in the form of four cameras that capture the area around the vehicle and transfer helpful information to the screen of the infotainment system. For example, you can see kerbs or parking markings better and even look around the corner.

Adaptive Cruise Control ACC helps you to maintain a previously set maximum speed and preset minimum distance to the vehicle in front.
Front Assist
The optional Front Assist emergency braking system with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring can warn you of critical situations involving pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles. It can even brake automatically in emergency situations. In evasive and turn-off situations, Front Assist can potentially prevent an impending accident within the limits of the system by issuing a warning or applying the emergency brake.
Side Assist, Lane Assist, Rear Traffic Alert, Exit Warning System
Staying in lane
Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert and Exit Warning System
The optional Side Assist lane change system can alert you to dangerous lane changes. An LED lamp in the exterior mirror shows you when a vehicle is in your blind spot or approaching quickly from behind. When you signal to change lane, Side Assist calculates whether one of these vehicles could pose a danger to you based on position and speed – and draws your attention to this by flashing conspicuously.
Working together with the Lane Assist lane keeping system, it can support you additionally with corrective steering intervention.
The Rear Traffic Alert warns you about another vehicle crossing your line of travel when reversing. If you do not react, the system can intervene and brake the vehicle to alleviate or even prevent a collision. The exit warning system helps you to avoid dangerous situations when leaving your vehicle. It can detect when another vehicle is approaching from behind and warn you acoustically and visually before getting out of the car.
Lane Assist
From a speed of 60 km/h, Lane Assist can detect whether the vehicle unintentionally leaves its own lane. With corrective steering intervention, it can direct the driver’s attention back to what’s happening on the road.
